The Chicken (1995) is a short essay about the lost art of raising chickens. It later became part of a speech I gave at the 1996 Bowdoin baccalaureate ceremony, shortly before I graduated from the college.
The Refugees (1996) is a reflection about the Vietnamese and Cambodian immigrants who stayed at my family's house in the 1980s.
D.R. Letter (2003) is a letter I wrote to friends and family while living in the Dominican Republic. It contains my thoughts about architecture, beauty, teaching computers, and diet.
Online Math (2005) is about my experience developing a website for math test generation. I discuss the circumstances of the site's creation and what it's like working by oneself on such a project for over a year.
Christmas Letter (2006) is my annual letter. I do not much support our cultural tradition of buying, signing and sending commercially produced holiday messages. Since I am not artistic enough to create my own cards, I send out plain text letters.
More Annual Tidings (2007) is another state-of-the-family report.
